The previous three life hack lessons have been geared towards actions to create growth but actions alone will not make you grow and improve.  This is why it’s so important to have a growth mindset and to teach our kids about having a growth mindset.

What Is A Growth Mindset?

This is in opposition to a fixed mindset, that essentially says if you currently don’t have it (skill or knowledge or ability) then you never will have it, regardless of any hard work you put in.

Growth Mindset – a term used to describe people who believe that their success depends on time and effort.

Fixed Mindset VS Growth Mindset

With a growth mindset, we should be using failure as stepping stones in our lives. But as babies grow into children and then into adults, something happens. They get scared.

There are a number of causes that turn people into ‘non-walkers’ or people with a fixed mindset.  However, there are two causes of this fixed mindset that are the most common. The first is insecurities and the second is pride.

Low Self-Esteem

One example of the insecurity, or low self-esteem, is thinking we are not worthy enough to have true or full success, so we ensure we only go as far as we feel we are worthy of.

Pride

One example of pride issue is the person who tries to learn everything on their own because they are “the only one” who can possibly get this right.

A growth mindset is determined by motivation rather than by results. The amount of accomplishment in anything you do is of no value if you learned nothing.
