Insanely Easy Large Family Homeschooling Tip

Insanely Easy Large Family Homeschooling Tip

Homeschooling is an adventure. Some families find this adventure to be easy peasy. Other families find homeschooling to be a little bit of a rough ride.

While it’s one thing to guide a child or two through their daily studies, it is quite another to keep three or four kids (or more!) I am the homeschool mom of a large family homeschool. And today, I am going to share with you my best large family homeschooling tips.

Large Family Homeschool Tip #1 – Create a Routine or a Checklist, NOT a Schedule

When a homeschool family, particularly a large homeschool family, tries too hard to stick to a rigid schedule, (at least in my experience) kids rebel and families get burnt out.

With a homeschool routine, families make a list of subjects they want to cover in loose schedule-like format.

What Does An Ideal Large Family Homeschooling Schedule Look Like?

Instead of moving onto math when the clock strikes a certain time, we move on when we’re done for the day.

The difference between a routine and a schedule is the flexibility.

An effective homeschool checklist could look something like this:

Language Arts – read a chapter in XYZ book English – write a paragraph about ABC Reading – go over a phonics workbook or game with the younger children
