Thanksgiving Point Harvest Festival

The Thanksgiving Point Harvest Festival is always a lot of fun. This event is FREE to the public.

Visitors can enjoy artisan vendors, kids crafts, and music. Get into the harvest spirit while browsing fall-themed goodies.

The biggest highlight of the harvest festival is always the giant pumpkin weigh-off. Weight competitions are held for a large variety of autumn vegetables, but the giant pumpkins are always a sight to see – a crowd favorite.

Thanksgiving Point Halloween Activities

As homeschoolers, we are always trying to fill our kids’ lives with enriching educational experiences. And I especially love when these activities don’t have to be planned by me – even better if there is no work involved and all I have to do is show up!

I’ve got a confession to make – I don’t like Halloween. It’s not that I think it’s evil or anything. In fact, I find the roots of Halloween quite wonderful. But as a mom, Halloween is a lot of work!

Figuring out costumes (that won’t break the bank!) and dealing with the never-ending candy (hello sugar crash!). Trying to decide which parent gets to follow the kids around the neighborhood and which one gets to be left behind to answer the endless stream of trick-or-treaters.

It’s just not my idea of fun!

But alas, my kids LOVE Halloween. And why wouldn’t they? Halloween is a great time to be a kid. And I always do my best to provide them with lots of Halloween fun, because they are important to me.

So this year, the bulk of our Halloween festivities will be spent at Thanksgiving Point. Thanksgiving Point is the best family fun venue in all of Utah. It’s well worth traveling for. All I have to do is spend a little bit of time in the car and the rest of the time watching my kids laugh and giggle and play!

Scarecrow Festival at Thanksgiving Point

The Scarecrow Festival is the biggest fall-themed activity hosted by Thanksgiving Point. It runs for 2 weeks right before Halloween. And it is a lot of fun.

Every year, people all over Utah design and create the best scarecrow they can come up with. Then they bring these scarecrows to Thanksgiving Point and enter them into a scarecrow decorating contest.

For 2 weeks, visitors get to tour Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point and view all these wonderful scarecrows. There are scary scarecrows, funny scarecrows, and scarecrows dressed like famous people and characters.

Each scarecrow is family-friendly and suitable for children.

In addition to the scarecrows, the scarecrow festival at Thanksgiving Point also has music, kids crafts, and family-friendly games, and most importantly, delicious food!

It really is a fantastic Halloween event.

Witch’s Breakfast

One of Thanksgiving Point’s newer Halloween traditions is an annual Witch’s Breakfast.

This event is held in the visitor’s center of Ashton Gardens. Guests are served a delicious breakfast and get some fun Halloween visitors.

It is a great family fun Halloween activity. And ticket purchases come with admission to the Scarecrow Festival, so families can enjoy even more Halloween fun!

Day of the Dead Celebration (Dia de los Muertos)

Ever since seeing Disney’s Coco, I’ve been fascinated by all things Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos)

One of these days, I plan on implementing a fun Day of the Dead celebration tradition in my own homeschool. I may even involve some local homeschoolers. One of these days…

But for now, I must content myself with fun Dia de los Muertos activities like the one going on at Thanksgiving Point.

The Thanksgiving Point Day of the Dead celebration is a wonderful way to celebrate the family history and ancestry parts of Halloween.

Cornbelly’s – The Best Corn Maze in Utah

Cornbelly’s is often viewed as the best corn maze in Utah.

Although Cornbelly’s is not owned by Thanksgiving Point, you can find this wonderful family-friendly Halloween event right on Thanksgiving Point property.

Explore the maze by day (or there’s a nighttime haunted option). And play on one of the 50+ attractions that are perfect for entire families!

In addition to the regular attractions, there are special scheduled events going on throughout the season. Some of these events (like the sea lions show) are only there for a couple of nights. Others (like the fireworks) are scheduled for weekends only.

If you want to really enjoy all that Cornbelly’s has to offer, you’re going to want to go more than once.
