Jess Brooks – Editor

Jess is a former elementary school teacher turned homeschool mom. She has three kids who, along with the managing editor position at Hess UnAcademy, keep her very busy.
With both traditional classroom and homeschooling experience, Jess truly understands what it takes to teach children and raise them up to be successful.

Kat Martin served her community for 15 years as a public school Language Arts teacher and as a Children’s Director at her local church. Currently she and her husband are raising three kids in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

Charlene Hess – Founder

Charlene Hess spent many years teaching kids before she had her own kids. Charlene has taken many child development classes as well as courses on teaching children. She loves applying the knowledge learned in these classes to her work.
Charlene now has 8 kids of her own, whom she has been homeschooling for over a decade. Charlene still teaches other children outside of her home but finds great joy in exploring the world with her family.
She has now moved on from Hess UnAcademy to focus on her family and her other blog, Secret Life of Homesteaders.
