The Benefit of Halloween Activities for Kids
Halloween is a fun time of year for kids. It’s like they’re getting to play dress up and act out their favorite monsters from the movie or TV show, but in real life with all their friends!
Parents can take the time during Halloween to do fun activities with their kids that will teach them how they can be creative and imaginative, too! These are all really important life skills that help kids learn how to grow up into strong adults who love what they’re doing in their lives. After all, you’ve never seen a happy, fun-loving adult who doesn’t have any measure of creativity or imagination, have you? I certainly haven’t.
Fun Halloween activities also help kids to learn how they can express themselves and feel more like an individual. This is a really important skill for people in their teens and early twenties who are trying to figure out the kind of person they want to be, but it’s also important for young children as well! Hence, fun Halloween activities such as these monster hand puppets.
How to Enjoy Your Monster Hand Puppets
Kids will have a ton of fun making these monster hand puppets with their parents. Once they’re finished, you can use the free printable template to create more for other kids in your neighborhood! These are great to hand out at school or on Halloween night as party favors too.
Or if you don’t want to hand a bunch out, that’s cool too. Encourage your kids to create and act out their own Halloween stories. Watch them play and create with this super simple craft. You can even have your kids put on a puppet show for the grandparents!
How to Make Your Halloween Hand Puppets
Many people use brown paper bags and random art supplies to make hand puppets. That’s a great option and tons of fun, especially if you don’t mind an arts and crafts mess.
However, if you prefer a less messy, more toddler-friendly hand puppet solution, I’ve got some monster hand puppet templates here for you.
First, you’ll print out the puppets. Then you’ll cut out the monster (just follow the outline). Finally, you fold!

You’ll want to fold along the middle line so the color is facing in on itself. Then take the top line and fold out, and the bottom line and fold out. You’ll be left with a monster face that doesn’t have a mouth.

In your bundle, you’ll see a white page with a bunch of random lines. Cut one of those out and glue or tape it onto the back of your monster puppet. This is where you’ll stick your fingers so the paper puppet easily opens and closes. It’s essentially a strap so the puppet stays attached to you as you move your hand.
And there you have it! The perfect monster puppet. Make all four monsters and go have some fun!
