The principles I am teaching in this book are:

  1. Action is the cure to fear.  If you’re scared to do something, then use action to lessen and eliminate that fear.
  2. Being brave does not mean being fearless. Being brave means doing in spite of fearing. Step out, step up and make it happen or fear will dictate your entire life.

Using Books to Teach Kids a Lesson

People learn in a variety of different ways.

Some learn best by DOING. Others learn best by SEEING. Still others learn best by HEARING.

It can be hard to determine which of the different learning methods works best for your child. But parents and teachers agree, using multiple learning styles for the same lesson helps that lesson sink in better.

Using children’s books to teach a lesson is a great way to reinforce a principle you are trying to teach.

Just think about all the different learning styles a children’s book can tap into!

Reading Books and Learning Styles

Reading a book out loud to your child a favorite of the auditory learner. The auditory learner can listen and soak in all the knowledge just by listening to you read.

Having the child read the book to himself taps into the visual learning side. Now your child can see the words and the pictures and internalize them that way.

Watching a video of another kid reading the books aloud (such as the video embedded below) combines the auditory and visual learning methods.

Using the lessons taught in these books and going through the principles together invites in even more learning styles.

I have a couple of kids who learn best by DOING (kinestetic) so we like to act out the books that we read to help the lessons sink in.
