It might seem like your options to make money at home, especially if you’re busy homeschooling, would be extremely limited. And while that may be true, you really do have some solid pathways. Here are our top five:
#1 Taking Surveys Online
We already touched on this one in our featured section above, but one of the simplest ways to start earning some extra cash is through online surveys. It’s a great option for busy moms.
The key is to find a reputable survey source, such as Survey Junkie. By finding the right source, you can gain access to tons of surveys that will pay for your opinion. Will you get rich, no. But a bit of hard work and you can earn some decent extra cash and rewards. And it’s totally feasible to complete a few surveys during periods of downtime throughout the homeschool day.
#2 Freelance Opportunities
There are tons of opportunities out there for freelancing and making extra money on the side. Some of the most common are freelance writing (here’s a good resource that shows you how) and graphic design. But if those don’t fit your skillset, there are also plenty of options for virtual assistants out there. For example, there’s a Facebook group called “TpT Virtual Assistant Finder” where people are constantly looking for VA help for their Teachers Pay Teachers store (which is right up the alley of most homeschool moms!).
Not sure where to start? One place to get going is UpWork, which is basically a platform for buying and selling freelance services. Sign up, create your profile, and get to work!
#3 Sell Printables on TPT
While you’re probably downloading printables for your homeschool from people like us, you’re likely creating some of your own too. If so, why not put them to work for you? There are tons of teachers and homeschool moms out there looking for resources like the ones you’re creating. All you have to do is sign up for a basic seller account on TPT, create your store, and upload your products.
Of course, like anything else, you’re going to need to market (Facebook, Pinterest, etc.) your goods, but there is some real possibility!
#4 Selling Handmade Crafts on Etsy
Are you a crafty sort of person? For example, maybe you crochet? Or maybe you make jewelry? Then Etsy might be a good option for you.
Setting up a shop on Etsy is really pretty easy. There are millions of shoppers who literally spend billions a year on the platform. You just need to create your store, list your items, and try for a small piece of that pie!
As with TPT, your products are only half the battle here though. You need to also learn how to promote your store to get those eyeballs on your products and start making those sales.
#5 Online Tutoring or Teaching
As a homeschool mom, you have a strong foundation in education. Afterall, you already teach your kids. So why not tutor others? Platforms like Tutor.com can help you to connect with students in need of tutoring. Alternatively, you could also reach out to local Facebook groups, schools, etc. People are always looking for tutors!
