How to Enjoy a Christ-Giving Tree?

To enjoy a Christ-Giving Tree, first you need to set up your Christmas tree, sans ornaments. We set ours up the second of November, directly following Halloween.

This worked out for us because I always want to set up my Christmas tree as soon as possible, but I inevitably grow tired of the tree and the mess before Christmas finally comes around, and I don’t want that. I want to stretch out the feeling that Christmas brings me, without growing bored of it.

Once your tree is set up, tell your kids you are going to be gathering around the tree every day to talk about something that Christ has given us. Then every day, your kids will get to write down a gift from God that they are grateful for and hang that item on the tree.

You can do this by making your own little cards or notes, or by printing out these decorative Christ-Giving Tree printables I made for you. Whatever you use, simple hole punch a corner and tie in a ribbon or piece of yarn or string so you can hang it on your tree.

Do this every day leading up to Thanksgiving, or perhaps December 1st, whichever suits your fancy. Or if you prefer, continue all the way up to Christmas Day. We plan to add our Christmas ornaments right after Thanksgiving, but you can do that whenever works for you and your family.
