Feel free to purchase these beautiful living books if you don’t already own copies, or search for them at your local library. Rabbit Trails Through Literature Language Arts Units

This Charlotte Mason Language Arts curriculum is divided into 3 units.

• Unit 1 covers nouns, verbs, capitalization, periods, and so on. Also snakes, libraries, zoos, Vikings, ecosystems, presidents, etc.
• Unit 2 covers fables, fiction/non-fiction, parts of a book, onomatopoeias, and so on. Also the rainforest, owls, plant life cycles, flight, etc.
• Unit 3 covers exclamations, rhyming, question marks, writing questions, and so on. Also germs, severe weather, family, animal senses, Native Americans, etc.

Charlotte Mason Inspired Language Arts Lesson Plans

Each lesson plan in the Rabbit Trails language arts program is sectioned off by book. I felt very comfortable jumping around and starting with the book of my choice.

We started with A Sick Day For Amos McGee because it’s already a favorite in our home. We got to learn about verbs, make a get-well card, and even enjoyed some creative writing while pretending we were sick and somebody silly had to take care of us! We followed up our studies with a virtual trip to the zoo.

I love how each book included a field trip idea to complete the study. We are definitely a field trip loving family and try to go on two or three field trips a week, whenever possible. If you can’t go on a real-life field trip for whatever reason, virtual field trips can also be enjoyed.
