Check out this free Easter Scattergories printable. It’s easy to download, print, and use!
Do your kids like word games? Scattergories is one of our favorite educational games and apparently many others agree. I have made and offered several Scattergories-style games to my readers, including this free printable Easter Scattergories game, and each one has been a huge hit. They’ve been some of the most popular worksheets in my collection of free printable worksheets for kids!
This Easter Scattergories game doubles as a Spring Scattergories game. There are two complete word lists and while many of them are specific to Easter, many others are more general and related to Spring. For this reason, you could use this free word game in your home from the beginning of March through the end of April without worry!
Games such as this free printable Scattergories game are very beneficial for kids. First of all, it’s well-known that kids learn best when they are having fun. (Adults too for that matter.) And this word game encourages kids to develop the following:
- Critical thinking skills
- Problem solving skills
- Spelling
- Handwriting
- Concentration
- And more
It’s really a no brainer, especially when somebody else has already gone to all the work of creating the game for you in the first place!

How to Play Scattergories
Playing Scattergories is quite simple. Your kids will have a word set, which is a list of 10 words. They will then be given a letter, in this case one of the 6 letters in the word ‘Easter.’
They will have a set amount of time (usually 2 minutes but you can adjust this for your family) in which to fill in as many answers for each word set as they can. The trick is each answer must begin with the same letter. So if you were using the ‘E’ in ‘Easter,’ then every answer on your word list as well as the word lists of all the other players would begin with the letter ‘E.’
At the end of the round, players compare answers. If multiple players answered the same thing, that answer is invalid. The player with the most valid answers wins the round.
I absolutely love this game! It’s so much fun to wrack my brain coming up with clever and unique answers that are still within the rules.
What’s in the Easter Freebie? (A Really Fun Game!)
This Easter freebie comes with 4 pages.
The first page is what you see here. It’s the beautiful title and a couple of spaces for writing in your kids’ answers.
I needed the title page to look this way to it was easiest to show off the entire activity. However, I understand this page does not leave much room for writing down answers so the next two pages split up the answer slots so there are 3 per page rather than 6, thus leaving more room for writing.
The 4th and final page includes 2 complete word sets. 2 word sets combined with 6 answer slits equals 12 complete gameplay rounds! And of course your kids can continue to play by coming up with other letters of the alphabet.
If you would like to download this free Easter Scattergories printable game to use in your home, you are more than welcome to. I hope your family gets plenty of enjoyment from this wonderful word game.
Easter Scattergories Extension Activities
Whether you’re playing in your homeschool or in a traditional classroom, there are plenty of ways that you can extend learning in these Scattergories games. For example, you could incorporate easter-themed STEM activities and science experiments into the game.
How would you do that? Well, one way is you could ask them to come up with easter-related items for each category. You could specify that they should be related to the scientific principles or processes they are studying.
The sky really is the limit!
Can You Use This As a Spring Scattergories Game?
You betcha! While this printable is primarily focused on Easter, it also functions great as a generic Easter Scattegories game. The word list contains lots of Easter phrases such as:
- something green
- somethig yellow
- baby farm animal
- spring time color
- type of weather
- kind of tree
- And more!
So even if Easter has passed, don’t worry. You can still use this free download, maybe even for a spring-themed party!
