I’ve gathered some of my favorite Fall party games that are perfect for all ages. So gather your friends and family and get ready to have some fun!

These games would be perfect for your next Fall homeschool co-op party. Or you can enjoy them at home with your kids!

Recommended Equipment for Your Fall Games and Activities

If you’re planning a Fall festival, you’re going to want to have some resources on hand!

Here’s what we recommend. These items can be used as additions to games, crafts, and other Autumn themed activities.

 

• Hula Hoops – Have a hula hoop contest and see who can spin their the longest!
• Bean bags – Have a bean bag toss with homemade targets! Perfect for two equal teams or a bunch of solo players.
• Candy corn – Have a candy corn relay race or make candy corn catapults!
• Plastic cups – Can be used for a whole bunch of different games and activities.
• Orange construction paper – Make some autumn-themed arts and crafts!
• Poster board – Create a giant game board for an all day event!
• Stickers – Use as prizes or rewards for winning games, or add them to construction paper crafts.
• Duct tape – Have a homemade obstacle course or use the tape to mark off game boundaries, a throwing line, or finish lines.
• Empty container – For holding small prizes as they are being won or for storing party supplies that are not being used.
• Plastic bag – For containing the inevitable garbage!
• Pennies or small coins – Throw pennies into a plastic cup or empty container while waiting for the party to start or as its own dedicated game!
• Large spoon for each player – For all those relay races!
• Timer – Many of these games are timed and gameplay can’t start until the timer starts.
• As many pumpkins as you can get a hold of – perfect for party decoration or as the focal point to your party games.
• Pen and paper or whiteboard and marker – For playing hangman or for keeping score

Fall Party Games for All Ages

Sometimes you have a large range of ages and need games that can be played by everyone! These fun Fall games can be enjoyed by all ages.

Bowling

Bowling is a fun sport that can be played indoors or outdoors. If you have room in your house to play this is a great back up game if the weather outside is too cold, wet, or windy.

Just get some old empty milk jugs or water bottles, a couple of balls (any kind), and a long, clean hallway and have at it!

Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt is the perfect game for Fall. You can make it as easy or difficult as you want, and it can be played both indoors and outdoors.

You’ll need to hide a bunch of small objects around your house or yard (depending on where you’re playing) and then give your players a list of things to find. The first person or team to find all the objects wins!

Scavenger hunts are usually enjoyed by younger kids but tweens and teens can enjoy scavenger hunts as well if they’ve got the right attitude! Just make what they’re searching for more detailed and difficult to find for an extra challenge.

Harvest I Spy

This is a great game to play if you’re looking for something that doesn’t require any prep work.

All you need is a group of people and a few minutes to explain the rules. Then everyone can get started!

To play, simply look around your environment and find things that are red, orange, or yellow. Once you’ve found an object, say “I spy with my little eye something that is…” and describe the object. The first person to guess correctly gets to be the next “spy”.

This game can be played anywhere, making it perfect for long car rides or waiting in line.

Charades

Charades can be played anywhere and by any age! You can play indoors or out as long as you have somewhere for everyone to sit or stand.

To play, have one person act out a scene, book, movie, or song while the others try to guess what it is. The catch is you can’t use any words, just actions and gestures.

 

You can use cards with prompts if you want, but it’s just as fun to make up your own.

If you’re playing with young kids, be sure to make the charades easy so they don’t get frustrated. And whoever guesses it correctly is the next one to act something out or choose someone else to act something out.

Hangman

Hangman is another game that can be played anywhere. All you need is a pen and paper (or a whiteboard). If the weather is bad this game can be played indoors, or if you want fresh air, take the board outside!

To play, one person thinks of a word or phrase and the others have to guess it by suggesting letters that might be in it. If the letter is in the word, the person drawing writes it in its correct place. If the letter is not in the word, they draw a body part of the “hangman”.

 

The game is over when either the hangman is complete or the word has been guessed. The first person to guess correctly can then choose the

Leaf relay

This is a great Fall game that can be played outdoors or in a large indoor space (such as a basement or a great room). You’ll need a few leaves (real or fake), a couple of buckets or bins, and enough people to form two teams.

To play, line the teams up at one end of the yard/field/room. Place the leaves in the buckets/bins at the other end. The first person in each team has to run to the leaves, grab one, and run back to their team and tag the next person in line. That person then runs to the leaves, grabs one, and so on.

The goal is to be the first team to get all their leaves back to their line. This game is great for kids of all ages and can be as active or as low-key as you want.

Another way to play the leaf relay involves more searching and critical thinking.

Have the first set of runners get a leaf and bring it to the second runners. The second runner puts an identifying mark on the leaf with a permanent marker and takes the leaf back near the starting point and drops it and comes back. The third runner has to find the leaf and bring it back for the team to win.

Pumpkin Toss

Pumpkin tosses are very popular Fall festival games, and for good reason! They’re exciting, they’re good for all ages, and pumpkins are really easy to come by this time of year.

A pumpkin toss can be a lot of fun, but it is a mess. This is a great game for after Halloween as everyone if getting rid of their jack-o’-lanterns.

Ask all the attendees to bring a pumpkin to throw. Let them know they can bring their jack-o’-lanterns. Whoever throws the pumpkin the farthest wins. You will need a yard that you do not mind a mess in. Large pumpkins (and sometimes small pumpkins too) will explode when they land and chances are good you will not be able to pick all the pieces up. This is a good game for the country or for those who have livestock that will eat all the scraps and pumpkin seeds.

 

Note – be sure to only play this game where you are okay with pumpkin seeds being turned into future pumpkin plants!

Pumpkin Seed Spitting Contest

Have you ever had a pumpkin seed spitting contest? They are great fun and there is very little clean up.

All you need is a bunch of raw pumpkin seeds (shelled), a tape measure, and some willing participants. The person who spits their pumpkin seed the furthest wins!

You can have different age groups compete against each other or just let everyone go at it.

Raw pumpkin seeds are actually pretty tough to spit, so this game usually takes a few tries for people to get the hang of it.

This is a great game for Fall festivals or Halloween parties.

Apple Bobbing

Apple bobbing is a classic fall party game that can be enjoyed by all ages. All you need is a tub or bucket of water, some apples, and a group of people (kids and adults included)!

To play, fill the tub, a big bowl, or a bucket with water and add apples. The goal is to see who can grab an apple out of the water using only their teeth. No hands allowed!

 

To keep the spreading of germs down, you might consider getting a bunch of buckets or big bowls and assigning one to each person so only one face is entering each bucket.

This game is great for kids and adults alike. It’s a fun way to get everyone laughing and enjoying the Fall season.

Freeze or Red Light Green Light

This game is great for getting your guests to move around or dance. It’s perfect for indoor or outdoor parties and it’s perfect for all ages, including both younger children, older children, tweens, teens, and even adults!

To play, one person is designated as the freeze/traffic light. That person stands at one end of the room or field with their back to the rest of the players. The other players stand at the other end of the room or field.

When the freeze/traffic light yells “green light!”, the players start moving towards the freeze/traffic light. When the freeze/traffic light yells “red light!”, the players have to stop. If the freeze/traffic light catches anyone moving, they are out. The last person left is the winner and gets to be the

Alternatively, instead of racing to the end of the finish line, this can be a more flexible version of musical chairs.

Have your party guests dance around. When the freeze/traffic light person yells freeze, or when the music stops, everybody must freeze. Whoever continues moving is out. Keep going until there is one person left.

This is an easy game that requires little to no prep work and is a great way to spend some extra energy or stretch out. It really keeps kids moving! And for some extra Fall flair, use a Halloween or playlist with a harvest or Autumn theme from Pandora or Spotify!

Remember that any fall party game planned for the outside should have a back up plan for an inside game. Plan indoor and outdoor games just to be safe.
