Honestly, it depends on the child. Some kids will be ready to begin memorizing multiplication at a very early age (as early as 4 or 5 years old), while others may not be ready until they are 10 or 11 years old.

It really just depends on their maturity level and how well they are able to focus and stay on task.

However, in my home, I have found that the easiest way to memorize multiplication facts is with multiplication songs. There is just something about music that solidifies learning topics, all while adding an element of FUN!

If you are not familiar with multiplication songs, they are songs that help kids to remember the order of the multiplication tables.

The best multiplication songs (AKA skip counting songs) go along to fun and catchy tunes that are easy to sing along to. And once your kids have the song memorized, they also have each times table fact memorized!

And the best part is they had fun while doing so.

Other ideas for memorizing multiplication facts include:

• Using flashcards
• Practicing skip counting
• Drawing a multiplication table chart and filling it in as you learn each fact
• Practicing mental math problems
• Playing printable multiplication games
• Playing math board games that include multiplication
• Finding rhymes or catchy phrases to help remember the facts
• Doing daily multiplication drills (such as the ones found in these multiplication workbooks)
• Completing multiplication worksheets regularly
