What Is Chinese New Year?

Speaking of Chinese New Year – what is Chinese New Year and why are dragons such a huge part of this cultural celebration? In short, Chinese New Year is the first day of the traditional Chinese lunar calendar. 

The celebration begins on February 1st this year (2022), but actually spans 15 days – February 1-15. This time is spent celebrating with family and feasting on delicious treats!

Chinese New Year is one of the most celebrated holidays worldwide. It is also known as Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year! 

The festivities usually last for 15 days and are filled with family gatherings, fireworks,  and food feasts. And the biggest part of the celebration? Dragons. 

One of the most common celebrations during Chinese New Year is to have a dragon parade.

Dragon parades are an amazing sight to see. Traditionally, dragons are made from red fabric and paper lanterns which are then hung up in the streets for all to see. These beautiful orange dragons can stretch out longer than 100 feet! The bright colors help
